To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, we celebrated all week long by creating some beautiful pieces of art within our classes, which we shared outside the front of the school for the whole community to enjoy. On Wednesday, the History Ambassadors helped Mrs Edwards in presenting personal WWII artefacts to the whole school, explaining what each item meant and how the soldiers would have lived during the war. Then, on VE Day afternoon, we had our very own school field party! We listened to some 1940s music, had some juice, had cupcakes and discussed how happy the country would have felt 80 years ago.

Class 1 went right back to the stone ages and the children learned about how people used to live many, many years ago. We looked at mark making and places people would love – it was very different to our life today! We created fire torches to compliment our wonderful costumes 🐆
Class 2’s theme was Kings and Queens, learning about the current British Monarchy.
Class 3’s theme were the Romans and learnt about the way of life, what happened when Pompeii erupted and the differences between the regions of the Roman Empire.
Class 4 dressed up as Vikings! We read a Viking story about a young girl named Tilda, uncovered Viking equivalent fractions using longship sails, discussed the Pagan gods and goddess the Vikings worshipped, created Viking shields and loved showing off our costumes.
Class 5 learnt about the significant figures of history who sought out new countries and ventures of the world.
