The School Sports Leaders designed some amazing SPOTacular games to play with the children in their teams on Friday afternoon in the school hall – there was; 4 in a row, dominoes, SPOT the difference between the teachers, Pudsey Pointillism Art and Twister.

The children loved playing the games and everyone received a prize for taking part, a massive thanks to the School Sports Leaders for helping!

We also had 3 prizes for the most SPOTTY children in the school; our nominees are below and the overall winners were: Lucas, Jacob and Pudsey….or should we say Lilly ๐Ÿ™‚

UNCRC Article 12 – respect for the views of the child

What a wonderful week our children have had participating in a variety of debates and learning about the roles and responsibilities Parliament has in order to ensure the needs of our country are met. We are delighted with the work our children have produced and we also welcomed our parents into school on Friday to showcase our work and ask them on their opinions on our debates during a Parliamentary Coffee Morning.

Class 1 takes part in World Nursery Rhyme Week 2022

November 14, 2022 by admin

World Nursery Rhyme Week starts NOW and we are delighted to confirm we are taking part. The initiative, launched in 2013, promotes the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood development and education with a particular focus on how nursery rhymes boost early language and literacy skills.

We have a number of activities planned throughout the week but we would also love you to join in at home too. Each day we will send the lyrics to the nursery rhyme home so you can sing along with us ๐Ÿ™‚

Class 5’s Sleep-Over – 11 & 12.11.22

November 12, 2022 by admin

Well, what a fabulous time we have all had in school during our Sleep-Over in Aid for Crisis Support. We sampled structure building using cardboard boxes – fabulous teamwork and resilience shown by all, especially Mrs. Aspinall whilst she was testing how water-tight each shelter was! We experienced food and drink from a soup kitchen, as well as hosting our very own fashion catwalk wearing cloths we made by ourselves using black plastic bag. Maths Day 2022

November 11, 2022 by admin

UNCRC Article 29 – goals of education

Today the whole school took part in a fun filled afternoon of Maths activities – they really enjoyed being taught by different teachers for different sessions and it was great for all of the adults to see the progression of skills in Maths as the children move from EYFS right the way to Year 6!

Mrs Morton had lots of fun working with Class 2 and Class 3 – they were looking atย  place value and subitising with different foods before solving some challenging conceptual problems in differentiated groups ๐Ÿ™‚

Mrs Aspinallย enjoyed working with Class 1 and Class 4. Class 1 worked hard on counting out objects and discussing which group had more or less. They were very good at using the mathematical vocabulary. Class 4 worked on multiplication skills and played different games to show off all that they know. Mrs Aspinall was super impressed with their fast mental maths skills. Well done!

Miss Grimesย enjoyed working with class 5 and class 1. Class 5 worked hard to solve tricky word problems in their pairs, using lots of different methods. They worked as a team to solve them and then checked their answers. Class 1 counted to 3 using chocolate to help them and then sang a lovely number nursery rhyme.

Mr Grahamย enjoyed working with Class 2 and 3 with their Maths; we looked at calculations to 50 using a variation of ways to solve conceptual problems. We really enhanced our application skills by explaining our mathematical thinking to our friends by showing them how we solved our problems. Well done everyone – Rights Respecting Gold ethos demonstrated by all.
