Today, we celebrated a fantastic achievement across the whole school, as every class reached above the national average for attendance! As a special treat, Mrs Lee rewarded us all with ice lollies, which we thoroughly enjoyed in the sunshine on the field. It was a lovely way to congratulate our hard work and commitment to coming to school every day.

We had a fantastic time immersing ourselves in History Day! Each class dressed up to represent different historical periods, helping us step into the past and experience history in a fun and meaningful way. Our costumes sparked curiosity, inspired discussion and brought our learning to life across the whole school.
UNCRC Article 29 – education must develop every child’s personality and talents to their full potential.
Class 1 stepped back in time to experience life as World War II evacuees. We imagined what it felt like to leave home with a packed suitcase and label and we learned about the journeys children took to stay safe. The children enjoyed acting out the roles of evacuees and exploring what daily life was like during the war.

We have been learning all about the Victorians. We explored what school and home life were like in Victorian times, compared old-fashioned objects with the ones we use today and tried out some traditional Victorian activities.

Class 3 have been exploring the fascinating world of Ancient Greece. We learned about the powerful gods and goddesses, took part in a Greek style dance and enjoyed making Greek crafts – we even the chance to try a selection of traditional Greek food!

We had an amazing time celebrating History Day as Tudors! We dressed up in Tudor clothing to help us step back in time, took part in traditional Tudor weaving and even performed a Tudor dance for the whole school. We finished the day with a fun and lively class quiz, celebrating the fascinating lives and dramatic trials of the Tudor era.

Class 5 stepped into the past as Edwardian passengers aboard the Titanic! We explored what life was like for people travelling in different classes and imagined the excitement of boarding the famous ship. The children enjoyed taking on the roles of passengers, learning about their stories and discovering how the voyage changed their lives. This experience helped us understand the hopes, challenges and social differences of the Edwardian era.

To celebrate Energy Saving Week, we held a whole-school competition to see who could create the most eye catching posters to promote saving energy within our school! Members from our Rights Respecting Council worked together to vote for the winners of each class, which will be proudly displayed in their classroom! Well done to every child who participated – your posters were beautiful!

Today, we welcomed Tori from OASES into school to lead a wholeโschool assembly all about climate change. She helped us learn what climate change means, how it affects our world and why itโs important to take care of our planet. We discovered simple things we can all doโlike saving energy, recycling and looking after natureโto help make a big difference for the future.
Then, Tori worked with our Eco Group within school to use lux meters to begin exploring how light works. They used the devices to measure how bright different places in school were, from sunny spots by the windows to darker corners of the classroom. The children enjoyed comparing the numbers and discovering which areas had the most and least light and deciding if we need to use lights throughout the day.

We enjoyed showcasing our amazing Team Party manifestos to our parents and carers at our Parliamentary Coffee Morning! It was great to see everyone voting for the party they wanted to win and to see our parents and carers getting involved. Everyone had so much fun participating in the activities around the workshop areas and enjoyed some delights from our Fairtrade stall.
We have counted all of the votes and can now say that the winner of our in-school election isโฆ Blue Party! Their ‘Break The Rules’ Day will be happening very soon. We will forward more information about this day next week.

We have raised lots of money to help UNICEF and have bought life saving gifts. We saved at least 60 people’s lives with a medical box full of life saving things, 1800 water purification tablets and 100 doses of life saving vaccines for people in need abroad. We have done this by saving and using the money raised in our Tuck Shops, raised by people buying our Fairtrade products and handmade keychains. Thank you to everyone who has given money to us so we can help the people that need it.

For the past two weeks, 6 Year 4s have had the chance to work with some cooks from Chartwells with their families to create some yummy dishes in a cookery workshop! Everyone has loved working with their adults to create these new meals and are so proud of their creations. The children have even been helping more with cooking at home, as each pair is given a bag of ingredients to take away alongside a recipe to follow at home! Well done everyone!
