Full School Opening on Monday March 8th 2021

February 23, 2021 by admin

23rd February 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: Full School Opening on Monday March 8th 2021.

The staff and I at Nettlesworth Primary School are delighted to be planning for a return for all our children on Monday March 8th. We are sure things will return the same as when we re-opened in September with staggered starts and children staying in bubbles etc. We are waiting for further updates and I will be in touch with you as soon as possible to remind you of the arrangements we had in place in the Autumn Term.

This article reflects the latest government guidance as of 5pm on 22 February. The latest update is about schools reopening to all pupils from 8 March.

Schools to reopen to all pupils from 8 March

  • All pupils will be allowed to return to face-to-face education
  • Before and after-school educational activities and wraparound childcare should resume where this provision is needed to support parents to work, attend education, seek medical care or attend a support group. Vulnerable children can attend this provision in all circumstances
  • In primary schools:
    • Staff will continue to take 2 rapid COVID-19 tests each week at home
    • There are currently no plans to test pupils when they return to school
  • In secondary schools:
    • Staff will be provided with 2 rapid COVID-19 tests to use each week at home
    • Pupils will need to take 3 tests as they return to school from 8 March, at existing school testing facilities. You’ll have discretion on how to stagger pupils’ return over that first week to enable them to be tested, but you should prioritise vulnerable children, children of critical workers and year groups 10 to 13
    • After the initial programme of 3 tests, pupils will get 2 rapid tests to use each week at home

Thank you again for your continued support.

Many Thanks

Donna Lee

Thank you and Reporting Symptoms after the school closes for February Half Term

February 12, 2021 by admin

Friday 12th February 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you so much for all of your support with regards to home learning. You have been absolutely amazing helping the children access DB remote learning and Microsoft TEAMS, we couldn’t do this without you all. Key worker/Vulnerable children will return to school and remote learning will begin again after half term on Monday 22nd February.

Reporting symptoms after the school closes for February Half Term

Nettlesworth Primary school will close on Friday February 12th . If your child develops symptoms of coronavirus you must book a test.

If your child develops symptoms that result in a positive test, up to and including February 14th  which result in a positive test up to 18th February, you must inform the school at d.lee103@durhamlearning.net or nettlesworth@durhamlearning.net

Please include the name of your child, their class and the date that their symptoms started, as well as your own contact details.

From Monday 15th February

If your child develops coronavirus symptoms from Monday 15th February onwards, they must be tested and, if positive, follow the advice of Test and Trace. You do not need to inform the school of any symptoms which occur after this date.

Contact tracing during the February Half Term

Please be aware that the school, following the guidance of the Department for Education and Public Health, will do the following for 6 days after the end of term:

  • Collect information from staff and pupils with positive tests and families of symptomatic pupils

  • Advise families of close contact with confirmed Covid cases, and inform them of self-isolation requirements

Have a lovely February Half Term and well deserved rest

Many Thanks

A letter from the Director of Education about Home Learning and duty in law

February 10, 2021 by admin

DCC Parental Engagement Letter – 10.02.21

10 February 2021

Dear parent

At this difficult time where schools are unable to offer on site education to all, they have been working extremely hard to provide an alternative education offer to ensure the continuity of children’s learning.

It is appreciated that sometimes there can be some technical difficulties accessing remote learning, and we also recognise that parents who are educating their children at home may also be working from home, balancing the demands of home life and employment circumstances.  Should you have any difficulties accessing your school’s remote education offer, we would encourage you to contact the school to resolve these as a matter of urgency.

If you are unable to access the school’s remote learning because of some other difficulty, it is imperative that you contact the school at your earliest opportunity so that learning can re-commence, and so that, as a parent, you can continue to meet your duty in law to ensure that your child(ren) of compulsory school age receive a suitable full-time education.

Schools have important duties to ensure that children are safe, well and receive the support that they need whilst remote learning. If a pupil is not accessing this, and the school are unable to make contact with you, naturally the school may be concerned. It is therefore important that parents maintain an open dialogue with schools so that they can help you with any concerns or difficulties. In some circumstances, it may be necessary for the school to make a referral to the Local Authority who will assess whether a home visit is required.

Yours sincerely

Richard Crane
