E Safety Coffee Morning

February 7, 2025 by rebeccaaspinall

A massive thank you to everyone for attending our annual e safety coffee morning. We loved sharing all of our work with our adults and also promoting how we can stay safe online. This years theme was ‘too good to be true’. Each class discussed this at their own level and created work to show our understanding. Well done everyone!

Career Encounter – Civil Engineers

February 6, 2025 by ameliagrimes

UNCRC Article 29 โ€“ Goals for education.

Today class 3 had a lovely visit from Lewis and Abi, who are both civil engineers. They talked about what an engineer was and how there are lots of different roles. They answered all of the childrenโ€™s questions by telling them what they like about the job and showing examples of their work. The children then had the chance to take on the role by measuring different parts of the classroom, using the equipment and work out area and perimeter, which they absolutely loved!

Class 5 Parents’ SAT Meeting – 28.1.25

January 20, 2025 by admin

Our children in Class 5 have been working incredibly hard in preparation for their Standardised Assessment Tests (SATs) which are scheduled to commence on Monday 12th May 2025 โ€“ Thursday 15th May 2025.

We are holding a Class 5 Parent SAT meeting to discuss the SATs and answer any relevant questions you may have about the actual assessment week. It will be a good chance for you to look at previous papers / materials and familarise yourself with what your child will be faced with come May. The meeting is for Year 5 and Year 6 parents as our Year 5 children have been very much part of our preparations. The meeting will be on Tuesday 28th January at 4:00pm. It will be lovely to welcome you all into school.

We are immensely proud of all our children and their relentless efforts throughout the year – whether it is in school, during SATs Clubs, or at home โ€“ their achievements will be just rewards for their dedication and commitment to succeed.

May we personally thank you for your continued support, as without this, our jobs would be a lot harder!

If you have any queries, please donโ€™t hesitate to contact me.

Once again, thank you for your continued support, and another huge WELL DONE to our wonderful children; you have and are performing fantastically well and all the staff are very proud of you.

TT Rockstars – Top of the Rocks

January 20, 2025 by admin

UNCRC Article 29 – goals of education

TT Rockstars โ€“ Top of the Rocks (20th to 23rd January 2025)

Our children continue to work hard on the development of their Multiplication Tables โ€“ these are essential skills to enhance the childrenโ€™s mental mathematics and number property knowledge and understanding. The children from each class are actively involved in multiplication exercises through our TT Rockstars and Numbots initiative in school and using their electronic devices at home.

May I first say a huge thank you for all your commitment in helping your child complete their TT Rockstars and Numbots at home โ€“ long may this continue.

This week (Monday 20th โ€“ Thursday 23rd January), we will be taking part in a friendly competition involving schools from County Durham based on our childrenโ€™s TT Rockstars. Itโ€™s all done online via play.ttrockstars.com and their normal TT Rockstar accounts on their personal devices โ€“ iPads, laptops, PCs…

For every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, your child will earn their class a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours, subject to a daily 60-minute limit (see below). Winning classes in the school and in the competition as a whole will be the ones with the highest average.

All game modes (Gig, Garage, Studio, etc.) will count but only from games played between 7:30AM GMT and 7:30PM GMT on Monday 20th, Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd. To support player wellbeing, there is a daily time limit of 60 minutes per player. In other words, each player can earn competition points for up to 60 minutes between 7.30am and 7.30pm. Once the player goes beyond 60 minutes of play on a given day, they will still earn coins but will no longer earn points towards the competition.

In the spirit of the competition, please donโ€™t play on their behalf but by all means encourage and support them to the extent that it doesnโ€™t cause high stress levels or impact on family plans. We suggest a limit of half an hour a day outside school hours โ€“ some will play more, some will play less.

Please donโ€™t hesitate to contact us with any queries.

Once again, thank you for your continuous support.

Art Ambassador Workshop

January 10, 2025 by ameliagrimes

UNCRC Article 29 – Develop our talents.

Our art ambassadors recently worked with local artist Ana, to develop and enhance their art skills. They enjoyed hearing about how Ana became interested in art and how she now is building her own business, this inspired lots of our children. They learnt how to draw flowers, before creating a background using a range of materials and skills. The children had so much fun and learnt lots of new skills that they can share with other children.
