What a fabulous party we have all had – our Year 6 Leaver’s Prom.
The children all dressed up beautifully and had photos on the field before heading into the hall for ‘DISCO time’!
The children each had their favourite tea – McDonalds – followed by popcorn and candy-floss made by the teachers.
We were all treated to some fabulous dance moves!
Well done everyone; you all looked fabulous and a great-time enjoyed by all.

Wow Year 6, what can we say?
We all experienced an emotional collective worship today when we welcomed our whole school onto the school playground to celebrate the achievements of our wonderful Year 6’s throughout their primary school journey. They were all presented with a special gift and our school’s traditional Irish Blessing – May the Road…
May the road rise to meet you;
may the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,ย
and the rain fall soft upon your fields.
Until we meet again,
may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
Year 6, you are all a true inspiration for your peers; aim high and never stop believing – you will achieve and we all believe in you.

In class 3 we all had a heroes and villains party to celebrate the retirement of Mrs Shaw and the end of our Cornerstones topic. We played games, had a costume parade, a heroes versus villains quiz and ate delicious party food that Mrs Shaw treated us to.

Today we celebrated the end of our Cornerstones topic by holding an Afternoon Tea Party for the Queen. We even had a lovely visitor. Look at how lovely we all looked in our fancy clothes!
Thank you very much to Sarah in the kitchen for helping us prepare our food!

Wow! What can we say?
We were all given an absolute treat today when the children of Class 4 performed their Leaver’s Production of ‘Wow! What a Year.’
The children were able to act, sing and perform to the highest qualities to their parents, who were delighted to watch on the outdoor stage (playground)!
We are all incredibly proud of the efforts of all the children in Class 4; you learned all your lines, songs, sourced your own costumes and made props…well done to everyone involved.
Class 4 – Wow! What a Year.

Our school artist of the month is the talented Amelia Lee in Class 3. Amelia created an amazing Cruella De Vil clay sculpture, it had so much detail. Well done Amelia.
We are also celebrating the work of Andy Goldsworthy.
Andy Goldsworthy is a British sculptor, renowned in his field, that creates temporary landscape art installations out of sticks and stones, and anything and everything else that he finds outside. The son of a mathematician, Goldsworthy grew up working on farms before eventually getting his BA from what is now the University of Central Lancashire.

Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you so much for responding to our parental survey. We are again overwhelmed by your responses and the positive feedback we have received. The additional comments are extremely appreciated and we are so grateful to have such supportive parents/carers.
Many parents are still concerned about home learning when a child has to isolate.ย Parents/Carers are doing an amazing job. Please donโt worry, we continue to be here for you if you need any support. Class Teachers will continue to ring or email to keep in contact. Please see below information regarding remote learning:
Home learning support โ information for parents & carers
When will my child need to learn from home?
What is my child expected to do?
Weโre determined to make every effort to keep our pupils on-track and make sure no one falls behind if they need to learn from home because of coronavirus.
We want to make sure your child can learn as much as possible at home. The following guidelines will explain what weโd like your child to do while learning remotely, and how we plan to support you and them.
When providing remote learning, teachers must be available between 9am-3pm on their working days
If theyโre unable to work for any reason during this time, for example due to sickness or caring for a dependent, they should report this using the normal absence procedure.
When providing remote learning, teachers are responsible for:
Setting work โ
Pupils can email work to their class teachers. All work submitted will be acknowledged by the class teacher. Feedback will be given for English and Maths on an individual basis. Feedback will be age appropriate.
What support will our school provide?ย
What can I do to help my child?
Create a positive environment for your child to learn at home, for example:

Parents โ What you need to know
Pupils โ What you need to know
We had a concern about parents/carers feeling not informed about childโs progress. We aim to keep parents/carers informed of their childโs progress by termly reports and termly parent meetings. The end of year report is a detailed report showing your childโs end of year progress. In September when parents/carers can come back into school for parent meetings, we hope parents/carers will feel more informed about progress when books/work can be shared in more detail.
Remember, if you have any concerns about helping your child learn, your childโs progress or you need any other support from the school, please let us know by contacting school office via email:ย nettlesworth@durhamlearning.net ย or headteacher emailย d.lee103@nettlesworth.durham.sch.uk
The views and concerns of parents/carers are really important to us and we are always here if anyone needs us. Please do get in touch.
Please see results of the survey below and some of the wonderful comments about our school.
Kind Regards
Donna Lee
