Luke Akehurst MP visited the school today

March 6, 2026 by donnalee

Luke Akehurst MP visited the school today to learn more about our work on inclusion and the Rights Respecting Champions programme linked to UNICEF. He spent time speaking with pupils about how they promote fairness, respect, and children’s rights across the school. During his visit, he also enjoyed watching a lively Tudor dance performed by Year 4/5 and a creative interpretive dance performed by Year 6 inspired by Sir David Attenborough’s Earth, which highlighted important messages about climate and caring for our planet. The visit was a great opportunity to showcase the pupils’ hard work, talent, and commitment to making a positive difference.

Launching the Christmas Festivities at Nettlesworth Primary

December 2, 2025 by ameliagrimes

What a magical start to the festive season! Our school hall came alive as every child added a bauble to our huge real Christmas tree, making it sparkle with colour and joy. Together, we counted down to the big light switch-on, filling the hall with music, dancing, and plenty of laughter.

Classrooms are now beautifully decorated, and the whole school gathered to enjoy a special story time with the classic ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. It was a wonderful way to celebrate together and spread festive cheer across our school community!

Rights Respecting Gold Award 2024

We are delighted to inform you that we have successfully received re-accreditation of Rights Respecting Gold Award. Please see below message from assessors and report.

Nettlesworth, RRSA Gold reaccreditation, 8 Oct 24, KA

Thank you so much for hosting my visit to Nettlesworth. It was lovely to see the school again in person and of course to meet so many colleagues and pupils and hear about their passion for rights and the work being undertaken in school.

I am very pleased to confirm that the Accreditation and Standards Committee agree that sufficient evidence was provided in the report to reaccredit

Nettlesworth Primary as a UNICEF UK Gold: Rights Respecting School.

Please pass on our congratulations to your pupils, colleagues and school community for their contribution and commitment to RRSA and for your collective achievement in sustaining the highest stage of UNICEF UK’s Rights Respecting Schools Award, Gold: Rights Respecting
