Remembrance Day

November 14, 2025 by ameliagrimes

UNCRC Article 38

The children took part in a Remembrance Service on 11.11.25, to remember all of the amazing people that fought for our country during the War! We talked about why we celebrate on this day and raised lots of money for the Royal British Legion, a UK charity that supports serving personnel, veterans, and their families! We held a minute silence to show our respect and laid money on our poppy! Thank you so much for all of your kind donations, towards such an amazing cause! All of the children also created a piece of art work, to display on our school fence for our community to see.

An Inspiring Day with Author, Adam Bushnell

November 10, 2025 by ameliagrimes

We were thrilled to welcome author Adam Bushnell to Nettlesworth Primary School for a truly inspiring day of storytelling and creativity!

Adam began the day with a whole school assembly, where he shared his journey as a writer and showed the children how storytelling can become a lifelong passion and even a career! His energy and enthusiasm sparked imaginations across every year group.

  • EYFS were transported to outer space, creating imaginative oral stories filled with rockets, aliens, and adventure.
  • Years 1 & 2 stepped into enchanted woodlands, crafting magical characters and exploring the wonders of nature through storytelling.
  • Year 3 unleashed their creativity with mighty metal superheroes, writing exciting narratives full of action and heroism.
  • Years 4 & 5 delved into the world of traders and raiders, sparking curiosity about history and the lives of Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.
  • Year 6 explored the theme of revolution, engaging in powerful discussions and writing that reflected change and resilience.

Adam Bushnell’s visit truly ignited imaginations and set the tone for a term full of creativity, curiosity, and learning. We’re so proud of the children’s enthusiasm and the incredible work they produced!

🌿 World Mental Health Day 2025 🌿

October 15, 2025 by ameliagrimes

On 10th October 2025, children across all year groups at Nettlesworth Primary School came together to raise awareness for World Mental Health Day, looking at the effects of fake news and doom scrolling on mental health.

Throughout the day, pupils engaged in a variety of thoughtful and creative activities designed to promote emotional wellbeing, empathy, and kindness:

  • The whole school began the day with calming breathing exercises and guided mindfulness sessions to help children understand how to manage worries and emotions.
  • In classes pupils took part in open discussions about mental health, learning how to talk about feelings and support one another. Teachers used age-appropriate stories and scenarios to spark meaningful conversations.
  • EYFS and KS1 explored picture books that promote emotional literacy, while KS2 students reflected on real-life stories of resilience and mental health advocacy.

The day was a beautiful reminder that mental health matters every day, and that even small acts of kindness and understanding can make a big difference. We are incredibly proud of our pupils for their compassion, creativity, and commitment to making our school a safe and supportive space for all.
