Class 2 Hancock Museum Visit
Today we had lots of fun visiting the Hancock Museum in Newcastle. We learnt all about the fossils and how Scientists can learn about animals from the past by studying them. We were lucky (or unlucky) enough to hold dinosaur poo!! We have had such a lovely day learning all about our topic : Dinosaur Planet.
A massive thank you to Mrs Lofthouse, our governor, for her help today.

Liz Million Author & Illustrator visits Nettlesworth!
On Monday 12th September 2022, an exciting and motivating Illustrator and Author called Liz Million spent the day working with all of our children in the school.
Liz ran workshops for each of the different classes, talking to the children about her life and how she pushed herself to follow her dream of making her love of drawing her career. She launched all of the classes new cornerstones topics and brought to life their imaginations ๐
She showed the children a portfolio of work that she had collected from early childhood and throughout her career and encouraged the children to put down their electronics and pick up a pencil! Liz talked about and demonstrated her unique drawing techniques, using characters related to their English topics. The children were all then given the opportunity to follow her step by step, creating their own story illustrations.
A thoroughly enjoyable day was experienced by all and our newly developed drawing skills will continue to grow!

First Week for our EYFS New Starters
The new children joining us have settled in extremely well this week. They have loved exploring their new classroom and meeting their new friends in Class 1. What a wonderful week we have had ๐
Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II
Today we paid our respect to our Queen. In school Mrs Lee held a special assembly to remember how the Queen served us all over her 70 year reign. We enjoyed discussing how we had recently celebrated her jubilee in school as well as at home with our friends and family.
As a mark of respect all adults in school wore black and pinned a white rose.
Mr Straughan hung our Union Jack flag half mast outside our school as a sign of respect.
Each class have contributed to our very own book of condolences to share our thoughts at this very sad time.
Rest in peace your Majesty.
Rest in Peace to Our Queen
Phillip came to me today,

Queen Elizabeth II has died at age 96. The longest-reigning British monarch and the longest-serving female head of state in history, the queen in 2022 celebrated her Platinum Jubilee marking 70 years on the throne.
“The queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” the royal family said in a statement on Thursday. “The king and the queen consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
