What a fabulous way to share our Cornerstones topic with the rest of the school. The children of Class 5 worked with our school cook to design a menu based on Mexico and created the perfect meal for all children and staff.
Well done to everyone involved and we all hope today has inspired you to try new foods at home.
A Rights Respecting Gold day for all our wonderful children.

We are delighted to inform you that we have successfully received re-accreditation of Rights Respecting Gold Award. Please see below message from assessors and report.
Nettlesworth Primary School RRSA GOLD 16Nov21
Thank you so much for hosting our visit to Nettlesworth last month. Jilly and I had a wonderful time hearing from you, children and staff about the fantastic rights work you are doing in school and the positive impact that learning about rights is having on outcomes for your children.
I am very delighted to confirm that the Accreditation and Standards Committee agree that sufficient evidence was provided
in our report to reaccredit Nettlesworth Primary as a Unicef UK Gold: Rights Respecting School.
Please pass on our congratulations to your pupils, colleagues, governors and parents for their contribution and commitment to RRSA and for your collective achievement in reaching the highest stage of Unicef UK’s Rights Respecting Schools Award, Gold: Rights Respecting. I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating your success.

In Geography this half term we have learnt all about our local area. We talked about what we like and dislike about Nettlesworth. We noticed that one of the things that we don’t like is the smelly dog poo! So we decided to try and do something about it. We have written a letter to our MP, Kevan Jones, in the hope he can help us solve this smelly problem!
UNCRC Article 12 – right to a say in all matters affecting them
Update …
Further to your correspondence to Durham County Council dated 14 December in which you detail Ms Aspinal’s concerns regarding the installation of a dog waste bin near Nettlesworth Primary School.
Firstly, I am sorry to hear that irresponsible people are not picking up after their pets. Regarding your suggestion to install a dog waste bin near the school, I can confirm that we can install a dog waste bin next to a lamppost on the grass verge outside the school grounds. If this location is acceptable we can arrange for the bin to be installed.
If Ms Aspinal could confirm that she is happy with the suggestion, we can then make arrangements to carry out the work.
Yours sincerely

Today we had our annual whole school tree decorating morning –
We all came together in assembly with our friends from each year and adults in school, we had Christmas music playing and every child in the school put a toy bauble on the Christmas tree before the big switch on. We then had a magical Christmas poem read to us by Mrs Lee!
