Red Nose Day 2021

March 19, 2021 by admin

Today the children have taken on the mammoth challenge that we call the ‘ATHON CHALLENGES’. We raised a total of £61 via ParentPay.

All day today each class bubble have been working hard to raise money for the Red Nose Day charity;

  • Starting with Class 1 who participated in the outdoor ‘CLIMBATHON’.
  • The next hour saw Class 2 tackle the ‘YOGATHON’ – each team had 15minutes to get their Yoga on – lasting the whole hour!
  • Class 3’s challenge was ‘SKIPATHON’ where the children from each team had 15 minutes of Skipping to participate in.
  • Before Class 4 ended our ‘ATHON CHALLENGES’ with ‘DANCEATHON’!

Huge well done to all of the children who participated and helped us raise money for this amazing charity. As well as all of the parents and carers who donated via ParentPay 🙂

Wear a Hat Day – Next Thursday

March 19, 2021 by admin

Wear a Hat Day Charity Letter 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

Nettlesworth Primary School will be taking part in this year’s ‘Wear a hat Day’ on Thursday 25th March 2021 to support Brain Tumour Research.

We’d like everyone to take part so please encourage your child to come into school wearing a hat of any shape, colour or size next Thursday with and donate £1 via parent pay.

Brain Tumour Research are a national charity in the UK that is dedicated to raising funds for continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours and are a leading voice calling for greater support and action for research into what scientists are calling the last battleground against cancer. ‘Wear A Hat Day’ is the UK’s biggest brain tumour research fundraising event, and we’re all looking forward to having great fun and raising funds to find a cure for brain tumours at the same time.

If you’d like to find out more about how our support will help, please visit their website at https://www.braintumourresearch.org/fundraise/wear-a-hat-day

Thank you,

Miss Morton 🙂

Guidance from the Department for Education for the Easter Holidays

March 18, 2021 by admin

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please read guidance received from the Department for Education for the Easter holidays.

Schools and further education providers continue to play an important role in contact tracing and the national effort to limit the Spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). We recognise the challenges of this responsibility during holidays and would like to thank everyone for their continued support. Asking establishments to provide contact tracing support is a key part of the test and trace process, as schools and further education providers hold the data about close contacts and pupil contact details. We will continue to keep these arrangements under review and will continue to try to reduce the burden on staff.

We need to ask schools and further education providers to continue with contract tracing over Easter, similar to the arrangements over Christmas.

Staff, parents and carers only need to inform the school of a positive case where they developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in their education setting. You are asked to assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in their education setting. Please contact via email at d.lee103@durhamlearning.net.

Where pupils or staff test positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) during the holidays, having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in an education settling, you are not required to take any action. Staff, students, parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.

Staff do not need to be available for contact tracing duties beyond the first 6 days of the Easter holidays, at which point all positive cases should be dealt with through NHS Test and Trace. This means that where a school ends face-to-face education on Friday 26th March, there will be no need to remain on-call after Thursday 1st April.

Where pupils need to self-isolate due to contact with a positive case during the holidays, settings do not need to be informed about this until the first day of the Summer term (Monday 12th April).

The Department for Education coronavirus (COVID-19) helpline 0800 046 8687 and PHE Advice Service will remain open over the Easter holidays to answer any questions you have about coronavirus (COVID- 19) relating to education settings and children’s social care.

School Presentation Video

March 18, 2021 by admin

We can’t believe it is a year today since we were told by our Prime Minister that schools would close March 20th 2020. However, that didn’t stop us being together whether we were at school or at home.

Here are some examples of the lovely things we have done this year and compiled by an ex- pupil, who is now in Year 11. Each and everyone of you are an inspiration and make us proud.

Parking Outside School

March 16, 2021 by admin

Dear Parents/Carers,

RE: Parking Outside School

Car parking at the beginning and end of the school day is a problem at most primary schools. Children and parents arrive and depart in a relatively short period of time and this causes congestion.

Our local PSCO is aware of the issues regarding parking outside schools and regular makes visits to the schools in our area.

If you witness any actions outside school that concern you please can I ask that you report it to the police using the 101 number.

What can you do to help keep everyone safe around the school ?

Please don’t:

Block the road, emergency vehicles and other traffic may need access

Park on yellow lines, zig-zags or block the school entrance

Park on the pavement, across dropped kerbs or residents’ driveways

Park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction

Expect drivers to reverse on to the main road

Park where you will cause inconvenience to other road users

Leave your vehicle with the engine still running

Stop in the middle of the road to drop your child off, even for a few seconds

Please walk to school if you can. If you have to come by car, try to share trips with friends or we can use the car park next to the community centre. Parking on restricted areas or mounting the pavement is a traffic offence.

Thank you for your support and co-operation.

Yours sincerely

Donna Lee Headteacher
