WORLD BOOK DAY 2021

March 4, 2021 by admin

It’s a dayย to celebrateย books, to inspire young people, and hopefully support the cause that is reading. Every day at Nettlesworth we encourage the children to delve into books and build up that love for reading…. but today we focus on it even more. This year’s theme is ‘Share a Story’ so here are your class teacher’s sharing their favourite stories:

Mrs Morton:

Mrs Plant:

Miss Milburn:

Mr Graham:

Competition entries were absolutely fabulous – I was overwhelmed by the time and effort put in to each and every entry, so On Monday you will all be receiving a prize for taking part! The winners will also receive their Easter Surprise on Monday too.

After narrowing the entries down to 3 per class, we thought we would let pupil voice shine through; linking to our UNCRC Article 12 – Every child has the right to an Opinion.

Class 1 judged Class 4, Class 2 judged Class 3, Class 3 judged Class 2 and Class 4 judged Class 1. Congratulations to you all! Please see the videos of the reasoning why the children chose the book covers they did below:

Class 1 Winner: Karen

Class 2 Winner: Erica

Class 3 Winner: Amelia

Class 4 Winner: Oscar

Gatherings at School Gates

March 2, 2021 by admin

Parents Letter – Primary Schools Gatherings at School gates Feb 21

01 March 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

Re: Gatherings at School Gates

As children and young people are returning to schools over the next few weeks, I would like to take the opportunity to remind parents, grandparents and carers to be mindful of the importance of social distance when dropping off and collecting their children from the school gates.

We know that many children are returning back to school, and parents and children may be excited to see each other and gathering at the school gates. However, I would like to remind everyone on the school run that Covid19 is still circulating in the community and we all need to continue to work together to reduce the transmission of the virus.

I would urge parents to be mindful of the coronavirus guidance and work with us and the school to keep everyone safe by keeping more than 2 metres apart wherever possible from people outside your household, to prevent the spread of Covid19.

School leaders are working hard to make sure that children are safe in school and that the risk of the virus spreading is minimised. We all have a responsibility to keep our communities safe and we need the support of parents, grandparents and carers when they are at the school gates.

The most recent guidance is set out in the link below:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home

Please keep your distance, please do not gather in groups and remember:

HANDSย ย ย ย ย ย  Wash your hands regularly and for 20 seconds.

FACE ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Wear a face covering in indoor settings where social distancing may be difficult, and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.

ย

SPACEย ย ย ย ย ย  Stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings or increasing ventilation indoors)

Together we can make a difference if we all play our part to keep each other safe.

We appreciate your ongoing support which is helping to keep our schools open and your children in education.

Yours faithfully
