Homework for Friday 25th September
This week for homework we are focusing on Science. We are all very much enjoying our topic of evolution and inheritance. Please complete the task in your file – don’t forget to learn your spellings too. These are given out on a Wednesday ready for a test on the following Monday.
Sports Leaders
Three of our PE Leaders recently attended additional training to further develop their leadership skills and knowledge. During the session, they learned new games, activities and strategies to help support physical activity and wellbeing across the school. They represented our school brilliantly, showing enthusiasm, confidence and teamwork throughout the day. We are excited to see them use their new skills to help lead activities and inspire others to get involved in PE and active playtimes.
Judo Taster Session
Class 5 thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a judo taster session this week. The children had great fun learning some basic judo skills and techniques from a qualified coach. They showed excellent listening skills, respect and determination throughout the session, and many children enjoyed trying something new. It was a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, coordination and teamwork whilst keeping active.

This week in numeracy we are concentrating on our addition and subtraction skills. Pease complete the task in your file. You will also find a pack of knowledge organisers in your child’s homework file. These are to help your child in preparation for the SAT’s. Please keep them in their files and use them each week to focus on a topic.

Ukulele session
Class 5 thoroughly enjoyed their ukulele session this week, where they had the exciting opportunity to learn a new song. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow throughout the session, and they were very proud of the progress they made.
Tag Rugby
Year 5 and Year 6 have loved working with Darren Curry as they began their learning journey in tag rugby. The pupils have shown great enthusiasm and enjoyed developing key skills such as passing, teamwork and communication through a range of fun and engaging activities.
Homework for Friday 11th September 2026
This week we are beginning our topic in Literacy – all about Greek Gods and Goddesses. Please work with your child to help them complete the reading task around this subject.
Memorable Experience
As part of our learning, we stepped into the shoes of Charles Darwin and explored the world as naturalists. We carefully observed a range of animals and created detailed observational drawings, focusing on important features such as body shape, textures, patterns, and adaptations. This memorable experience helped us develop our scientific observation skills, appreciate the importance of accuracy in recording findings, and gain a deeper understanding of how Darwin used careful observations to support his theories about the natural world.

We are looking forward to the year ahead – learning lots of new things and preparing for our next journey and transition to secondary school. Autumn term we our cornerstones topic is Darwin Delights.
We’re off on an exciting expedition with Charles Darwin and his crew on HMS Beagle. Can you trace his route across the vast ocean? Stop at the magical Galápagos Islands to see the amazing species that helped Charles Darwin to develop his theory of evolution by natural selection. Do you know what’s so special about a lava lizard, or why the blue-footed booby has blue feet? See how animals adapt to their environments over time and meet some of the world’s greatest explorers and naturalists. Imagine how humans will evolve in millions of years. It’s a scary thought.
