To raise money for the Booktrust, we took part in a Pyjamarama Day at Nettlesworth!

We came  to school in our pyjamas and then took part in some fun reading activities throughout the day. We had lots of fun activities planned throughout the day and celebrated the importance of every child having a bedtime story to read 🙂

Together we raised £55.00

Adam Bushnell Whole School Engagement

June 23, 2023 by admin

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming back the amazing author and story teller Adam Bushnell into our school. It was a fabulous to spark imaginations and get the creative writing flowing as we launched our new topics across the school – very inspiring for all of our children.

Class 1

We had lots of fun creating our own characters for fairy tales such as; ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and ‘The 3 Little Pigs’. We used lots of adjectives to describe our characters and added detail to the paper plate characters using natural resources that we found on the field floor.

Class 2 – Rio De Vida

Class 3 – Pirates

Class 4 – Heroes and Villains

Class 5 – Firedamp and Davy Lamps

Sports Day 2023

June 22, 2023 by admin

The weather wasn’t on our side this year but we didn’t let that stop us holding our annual Sports Day. We set up camp in the hall and cheered on our teams. We all had a fantastic time and showed off all of the Sainsburys Values whilst taking part. It was lovely to see the outstanding rights respecting behaviour from all of our children.

A massive thank you to our Sports Leaders and Mr Beveridge who ensured that Sports Day was well planned and resourced, as always.

And finally ….. 2023 Sports Day Winners are …. YELLOW TEAM!

Congratulations

UNCRC Article 31- Relax and Play

June 22, 2023 by admin

Article of the Week
Article 31
Hello,

Article 31, which we explore in this week’s Article of the Week, covers a wide range of cultural and artistic activities beyond what we might typically think of as ‘play’. It also includes relaxation and rest, as well as sport and physical activity.

This week’s pack take a holistic approach to this article and includes activities that will appeal to children and young people across a broad scope of their interests.

After the summer break we will no longer deliver new Article of the Week packs every week by email. All packs will continue to be available online.

In the next academic year we will launch a new monthly resource called Spotlight.

Spotlight will be a themed continuing professional development resource which helps you embed children’s rights practice and the outcomes of the Award with staff in your school. This new teacher training resource will be sent out in a monthly email which will highlight other resources that we recommend exploring that month.

Durham Dash

June 15, 2023 by admin

A massive well done to the 8 children who represented our school at the Durham Dash on Wednesday. They all ran a race around Beamish Museum, competing against 28 other schools from around County Durham.

We are all so proud of them and their determination to run even though the temperatures were warm!

Well done!
