1st December at Nettlesworth Primary

December 4, 2024 by lauragrant

Today we came back to school to see that our school has been sprinkled and sparkled with a dose of Christmas.

Each class have their own beautiful decorations and we took part in the special tree decorating assembly – every child helped and added a toy decoration to our huge Christmas Tree; there was lots of singing dancing and festive fun, before settling down for the big switch on and a famous Christmas poem 🙂

Rights Respecting Council Fundraising

November 27, 2024 by lowens

We have raised lots of money to help UNICEF and have bought life saving gifts. We saved at least 60 people’s lives with a medical box full of life saving things, 1800 water purification tablets and 100 doses of life saving vaccines for people in need abroad. We have done this by saving and using the money raised in our Tuck Shops, raised by people buying our Fairtrade products and handmade keychains. Thank you to everyone who has given money to us so we can help the people that need it.

Cookery Workshop With Chartwells

Cooking with Chartwells

For the past two weeks, 6 Year 4s have had the chance to work with some cooks from Chartwells with their families to create some yummy dishes in a cookery workshop! Everyone has loved working with their adults to create these new meals and are so proud of their creations. The children have even been helping more with cooking at home, as each pair is given a bag of ingredients to take away alongside a recipe to follow at home! Well done everyone!

UNCRC Article 31 – children have the right to take part in a wide range of activities.

Children in Need 2024

November 18, 2024 by lauragrant

This year for Children in Need we came into school wearing Superhero costumes… from Spider-Man to nurses, parents to princesses; the children made a wonderful effort with all of their costumes / pudsey merchandise. We would like to send a big thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising for Children in Need. We had fun learning about working together to make a difference to children’s lives all around the UK. As a school we raised £89 towards this worthy cause.

It was so much fun taking part in the gladiator challenges on the BBC children in need live stream. We added a nettlesworth twist to the challenges and held our own games in the school hall. The children’s highlight, by far, was the teacher challenges at the end of a wonderful morning 🦸🏻
