We are delighted to inform you that we have successfully received re-accreditation of Rights Respecting Gold Award. Please see below message from assessors and report.
Nettlesworth Primary School RRSA GOLD 16Nov21
Thank you so much for hosting our visit to Nettlesworth last month. Jilly and I had a wonderful time hearing from you, children and staff about the fantastic rights work you are doing in school and the positive impact that learning about rights is having on outcomes for your children.
I am very delighted to confirm that the Accreditation and Standards Committee agree that sufficient evidence was provided
in our report to reaccredit Nettlesworth Primary as a Unicef UK Gold: Rights Respecting School.
Please pass on our congratulations to your pupils, colleagues, governors and parents for their contribution and commitment to RRSA and for your collective achievement in reaching the highest stage of Unicef UK’s Rights Respecting Schools Award, Gold: Rights Respecting. I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating your success.
Class 2’s letter to Kevan Jones, MP
Letter to Kevan Jones, MP
In Geography this half term we have learnt all about our local area. We talked about what we like and dislike about Nettlesworth. We noticed that one of the things that we don’t like is the smelly dog poo! So we decided to try and do something about it. We have written a letter to our MP, Kevan Jones, in the hope he can help us solve this smelly problem!

Update …
Further to your correspondence to Durham County Council dated 14 December in which you detail Ms Aspinal’s concerns regarding the installation of a dog waste bin near Nettlesworth Primary School.Firstly, I am sorry to hear that irresponsible people are not picking up after their pets. Regarding your suggestion to install a dog waste bin near the school, I can confirm that we can install a dog waste bin next to a lamppost on the grass verge outside the school grounds. If this location is acceptable we can arrange for the bin to be installed. If Ms Aspinal could confirm that she is happy with the suggestion, we can then make arrangements to carry out the work.Yours sincerelyJeff TalbotClean and Green Manager
Rocking around the Christmas Tree
Today we had our annual whole school tree decorating morning –
We all came together in assembly with our friends from each year and adults in school, we had Christmas music playing and every child in the school put a toy bauble on the Christmas tree before the big switch on. We then had a magical Christmas poem read to us by Mrs Lee!

The Naughtiest Elf KS1 Pantomime
Today EYFS & KS1 watched a one woman show who performed the amazing panto ‘The Naughtiest Elf’! The children giggled from tart to finish and it was a show to truly remember… and kick start the festivities well and truly at Nettlesworth Primary School 🙂

Class 2 Teddy Bears Picnic
Teddy Bears Picnic
Today we had lots of fun making our sandwiches that we previously designed. We made sure we washed our hands and used the equipment sensibly, all to keep us safe. We then finished with our teddy bears picnic!
Professor Brainstorm
We have had so much fun learning all about magic today …… well that’s what we thought! Professor Brainstorm showed us how incredible science is and how much fun we can have investigating.
Children In Need 2021
A massive thank you to everyone who donated to our CIN day. We have had lots of fun joining in spotty dressing up, Joe Wicks movement classes, Pudsey biscuits for lunch, hoopla competitions and beat the teachers!
A great big thank you to the SSOCs and sports leaders who made the day run smoothly.
We managed to raise £74 👏
Here is what Lacie-Mae (SSOCs) had to say ….
For children in need day we had so much fun doing a hoopla game. We did it to raise money for children in need to help them if they need things.
What we did … we got each class in turn. First we got class 1 and we did the team games. Red v blue then yellow v green. Then the winners played each other, right up to class 5.
We got 2 hoops and used them. In KS2 you weren’t allowed to let go of hands and you had to get your full body through the hoops but for KS1 you were allowed to let go of hands.
The prize was a sweet for the class winner and the winner out of all the teams got a chocolate bar and played the teachers. The teachers won 🙁
