Levers in DT
In DT we have been working on how to make pictures move. We designed our own lever mechanism and used to make pictures move close together and apart again.

PE with Leanne
This half term we have worked with Leanne in PE. We have worked hard to develop a range of skills in different games such as tag rugby, basketball and football rounders. Miss Turnock has been very impressed with how our confidence has grown!

Science experiment.
In science we have been investigating the importance of looking after our teeth. We used eggs and placed them into different liquids to see how they can damage our teeth. We can’t wait to find out the results!

This weekโs homework is literacy and we are continuing our topic of โRobotsโ. Can you have a go at writing your own acrostic poem, all about robots?

In Science we have been learning all about healthy eating and the importance of a balanced diet. Please work with your child to complete their homework. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
Children in Need 14.11
Today we celebrated Children in Need and had lots of fun! We designed a new bandana for Pudsey and took part in a fun run. We enjoyed today and loved wearing yellow and lots of spots!


Remembrance Day 11.11
In Class 3 we talked about the importance of Remembrance Day. We discussed why we celebrate Remembrance Day and created beautiful Poppy art to be displayed outside of school.

Odd Sock Day 10.11
As part of Anti-bullying week Class 3 celebrated odd sock day. We talked about the importance of being unique and how we should always celebrate our differences.

In Numeracy we have been learning all about measuring lengths. Please work with your child to complete their homework. If you have any questions please ask!
Maths Day 7.11
Today we celebrated ‘Maths Day’. Class 5 became our teachers for one lesson. They taught us all about measurement and how we need to use different units of measure when measuring different things. At the end of the lesson Class 5 measured us using a meter stick. It was lots of fun!

Adam Bushnell – Topic engagement
Today Adam Bushnell came and delivered our topic engagement for our new topic ‘Mighty Metals’. Adam told us all about the importance of metal throughout history and how they were used to create different things in history. The children enjoyed trying on and handling a range of different artefacts.

Welcome back letter.
This half term our new Cornerstones Topic is โMighty Metalsโ. We will be learning all about types of metal, how we can use metal and will be linking this to our topic engagement when Adam Bushnell comes to visit. This also learns to our new Literacy topic of Robots. I have attached the welcome letter which includes more information about our topic and some important diary dates for this half term.

Harvest Festival
The children worked really hard to prepare for the Harvest Festival. The children enjoyed practicing their lines and singing the songs to celebrate. Well done Class 3!

Topic Celebration
To celebrate the end of our topic ‘Predator’ we worked as a class to create an acrostic poem that included all the facts we have learnt about predators. We also designed ourselves as predators and gave our own body a predator head. Finally, we enjoyed jungle biscuits!

Career encounter
Callum from the Royal Navy came to talk to us all about his job. He talked about the qualifications he gained at school an college and how they help him in his job today. The children asked lots of thoughtful questions such as ‘What inspired you to join the Navy?’

Speed Bounce activity.
Darren from the SSP worked with us for an in-house challenge. We worked in our team colours to see who could complete the most amount of bounces.

Homework due 27.10.2025
This weeks homework focuses on Literacy and there is a spooky element to it! Please work with your child to complete their work.
Flavours of the farm.
Class 3 took part in a flavours of the farm workshop by Chartwells. We enjoyed exploring different parts of the farm such as how vegetables are grown and how cheese is made from milk. We also enjoyed tasting a range of foods such as popcorn, milkshakes and cheese. Although some of the cheese was very smelly!

Bee Netball Festival
On Tuesday, Year 3 and 4 participated in a Bee Netball Festival. They worked on their throwing and catching skills. They developed their team work skills and had lots of fun doing it!

World Mental Health Day 10.10.25
Today Class 3 celebrated World Mental Health Day. We wore our clothes that make us feel happy and comfortable! As part of assembly we participated in mediation led by Mrs Morton. The children said they felt ‘relaxed’ and ‘calm’ after this. In class we talked about our emotions and how we can often feel different emotions in different situations.

Making clay birds of prey.
In Class 3 we have been learning about our topic Predator. In Art we designed our own bird of prey and then made it using clay. Finally, we painted the birds of prey!

Tri Golf Festival
Today the children took part in a golf festival. They enjoyed engaging in a range of activities and learning valuable skills!

Netball
For PE this week the children began engaging in their topic of netball. They enjoyed working on their shooting skills and building their team skills.

Welcome to year 3!
Welcome back and a huge welcome to year 3. I hope you have all had a lovely summer break and are looking forward to the year ahead! I can’t wait to get to know you all. Our first topic of the year is Predator, where we will learn all about Predators and prey. We will be exploring our school grounds, looking for predators and their prey and creating our very own predators and habitats. We have lots of exciting things coming up this year so keep an eye out for letters and information. I have attached the welcome letter for this half term, with more information about our topic and some important diary dates.
