Inclusion Quality Mark Re-Assessment 2023 and Centre of Excellence 2023

We are very proud to have been awarded this prestigious quality mark with Centre of Excellence Status which reinforces the work that we do to ensure that every child in our school is valued and has their education directly tailored to their learning needs.  It represents the fact that we are a fully inclusive school who promote the social, emotional and academic well being of all of our pupils.

What is the Year 4 multiplication tables check?

The multiplication tables check is an online test for pupils in Year 4. Pupils are asked to answer 25 questions on times tables from two to 12. They are given six seconds per question, with three seconds rest between each question, so the test should last less than five minutes. It is very similar to the set-up of Times Tables Rock stars.

Questions about the six, seven, eight, nine, and 12 times tables are likely to come up most often, as these are the hardest for most children to learn. It’s a good idea to focus on these tricky times tables with your child.

First and foremost, the check is about finding out which children are struggling with their times tables so that they can get extra support. It is not a judgement on what your child can do, but a way for the school to know how their teaching is going and to adjust their focus if needed.

When is the check going to happen?

The next trial of the times tables check, open to all schools that want to take part, will take place between 5th–23rd June 2023.  Our school participated in the trial and if your child is in Year 4, then they took the test.

By June 2020, every school will be required to take part in the check by law.

Article of the Week Article 39

Hello, Article 39 – Recovery from Trauma and Reintegration – has not been covered so far in this series. Conversations about the support needed to recover from the trauma of neglect, abuse, exploitation or torture have to be covered with the utmost sensitivity in class. Despite being a difficult article to cover, we would urge you to incorporate the activities in this pack, where you can and in a way that is appropriate to the context of your learners. As duty bearers, adults have an obligation to let children and young people know about the Convention (Article 42) and that includes the harder, more emotionally difficult articles. We strongly recommend covering these activities in class under the supervision of a teacher and not setting this pack, or activities in this pack, as homework. We would also recommend considering the situations your learners may bring with them into this discussion and have support and safeguarding in place.

Today we had lots of fun with Darren, from the SSP, working on team building activities. We loved doing all of the activities delivered to us by our very own Sports Leaders. We loved playing the games and learnt lots!

Nettlesworth Primary school had lots of fun celebrating and raising awareness for Brain Tumours when taking part in Wear A Hat Day. We took part in a HATTASTIC quiz and crowned the winning team with a super-amazing hat trophy. It was great to see so many hats of all different shapes and sizes – Well done everyone 🙂
